John J. Placzkowski Jr., the founder of Clay County Transmission had an idea. An idea that is not very common in the automotive repair industry. Quality work at a fair price. So in June of 1988, John and his wife Michelle began as a locally owned and operated business providing top quality transmission repair. In the transmission industry for more than 25 years, John began as a swamper (sweeping floors and cleaning up) in the 1970's. After working for all the major franchises he and Michelle decided to step out on their own. So with a playpen in the office and his knowledge of the transmission business, John and Michelle started what has become one of the largest and most reputable transmission business in Northeast Florida.

Old fashioned customer service is not a thing of the past at Clay County Transmission. You won't have a machine answering your call during normal business hours and for your convenience there is a 24 hour messaging system availbable that is checked periodically.

Our automatic transmission shop is proud to be affiliated with the non-profit organization known as the Automatic Transmission Rebuilder Association (ATRA). As an ATRA member our automatic transmission repair shop adheres to the service and repair definitions which are a part of the ATRA bylaws and code of ethics.

Clay County Transmission pledges to all of our customers that we will not remove a transmission from a vehicle in order to complete a repair unless absolutely necessary. Additionally our shop promises to diagnose transmission problems for all of our local and surrounding area customers in an honest and expert manner.
