John J. Placzkowski Jr., the founder of Clay County Transmission had an idea. An idea that is not very common in the automotive repair industry: Quality work at a fair price. So in June of 1988, John and his wife Michelle began as a locally owned and operated business providing top quality transmission repair. In the transmission industry for more than 25 years, John began as a swamper (sweeping floors and cleaning up) in the 1970's. After working for all the major franchises he and Michelle decided to step out on their own. So with a playpen in the office and his knowledge of the transmission business, John and Michelle started what has become one of the largest and most reputable transmission businesses in Northeast Florida.
