Meet Our Staff

The staff at our Clay County Transmission service and repair center are all highly trained and certified technicians with one common goal in mind - quality service at honest prices. Our transmission center is diligent in applying the ATRA Member Code of Ethics to all of our transmission repair and diagnostic services for the purpose of better assisting our customers with their repair needs and concerns. Adherence to the ATRA Code of Ethics also helps ensure that when you bring in your vehicle for transmission service or repair you know that you are receiving honest and professional service from our technical staff. Our transmission technicians are always polite and courteous in their effort to provide you with the quality of service you want and deserve.

John J. Placzkowski Jr.

John J. Placzkowski Jr., the founder of Clay County Transmission had an idea. An idea that is not very common in the automotive repair industry: Quality work at a fair price. So in June of 1988, John and his wife Michelle began as a locally owned and operated business providing top quality transmission repair. In the transmission industry for more than 25 years, John began as a swamper (sweeping floors and cleaning up) in the 1970's. With a playpen in the office and his knowledge of the transmission business, John and Michelle started what has become one of the largest and most reputable transmission businesses in Northeast Florida

Tony Placzkowski - General Manager

Tony Placzkowski

Tony Placzkowski is a retired Master Chief Petty Officer, having served our country for 21 year in the United States Navy. Joining his brother John after retiring in 1996, Tony has been instrumental in maintaining the state-of-the-art facilities and ensuring all employees are trained through annual technical seminars as well as the latest computer based training.

In the automotive repair industry for more than 35 years, Ira has brought a customer first attitude to all our customers. As the Automotive Service Consultant for the larger of the two stores, he schedules the work to ensure our customers are back in their vehicles as soon as possible without compromising time for quality.
